I have an idea.... instead of posting a big list with thousand of songs, I suggest that you name 1 or 2 songs, but describe why you like that song so much, or say something about that song... this way its more interesting to read, and maybe you read about a song that you don't know, and then you want to hear the song...

Rhapsody - The Dark Tower of Abyss : I think this song is the absolute best in Symphonic Metal... The begginning is comparable to Vivaldi, Mozart or any classical composer,... as well as the middle instrumental part, the chorus voices, at the back, while Fabio sing the verse is the kind that gives you shivers... it is very emotive.... The instrumentation of Rhapsody in my opinion remains the best of any metal band...

Nightwish - Wishmaster: this is the first Nightwish song I ever heard, and the first time I heard it it struck me... The chorus voices are incredible... all the riffs are beautiful, and Tarjas voice is awesome... All the melodies are lovely........

So.. Say yours and do your little song review....

Watching over me by Iced Earth

well... you ought to listen to that song. From the moment I heard it I knew that I would be spellbound. What can I say... this song basically has it all I demand from good music:
great guitar playing; wonderful lyrics; well placed bridge; great voice

Especially the vocal is wonderfully suited for these lyrics and musical background - he sounds... desperate, tormented by sadness, but as well powerful. I say it again: FIND IT (Kazaa icon_razz.gif ) and LISTEN TO IT.

---

I had a friend many years ago
One tragic night he died
The saddest time of my life
For weeks and weeks I cried
Through the anger and through the tears
I've felt his spirit through the years
I'd swear, He's watching me
Guiding me through hard times

(chorus)
I feel it once again
It's overwhelming me
His spirit's like the wind
The angel guarding me
Oh, I know, oh, I know
He's watching over me
Oh, I know, oh, I know
He's watching over me

We shared dreams like all best friends
Blood brothers at the age of ten
We lived reckless, he paid the price
But why? Why did he have to die?
It still hurts me to this day
Am I selfish for feeling this way?
I know he's an angel now
Together we'll be someday

I feel it once again
It's overwhelming me
His spirit's like the wind
The angel guarding me
Oh, I know, oh, I know
He's watching over me
Oh, I know, oh, I know
He's watching over me

--------------------

Swords in the wind by Manowar

the first time you listen to it you find that song anything special. As well the second and third turn. But somewhere during the fourth listening you get the picture: it's awesome!

Good, relaxing music, peaceful voice and good lyrics. So Manowar-ish!

---

SWORDS IN THE WIND

I Surrender My Soul Odin Hear My Call
One Day I'll Sit Beside Your Throne In Valhalla's Great Hall
Like So Many Before Me I'll Die With Honor And Pride
The Right Of A Warrior Forever To Fight By Your Side
Send A Sign Raise The Sail Wave A Last Goodbye
Destiny Is Calling Immortality Be Mine

Call The Witch To Cast The Runes, Weave A Magic Spell
We Who Die In Battle Are Born Not For Heaven Not For Hell

We Are Sons Of Odin The Fire We Burn Inside
Is The Legacy Of Warrior Kings Who Reign Above In The Sky

I Will Lead The Charge My Sword Into The Wind
Sons Of Odin Fight To Die And Live Again
Viking Ships Cross The Sea, In Cold Wind, And Rain
Sail Into The Black Of Night Magic Stars Our Guiding Light

Today The Blood Of Battle Upon My Weapons Will Never Dry
Many I'll Send Into The Ground Laughing As They Die.

Place My Body On A Ship And Burn It In The Sea
Let My Spirit Rise Valkries Carry Me
Take Me To Valhalla Where My Brothers Wait For Me
Fire Burning To The Sky My Spirit Will Never Die

I Will Lead The Charge My Sword Into The Wind
Sons Of Odin Fight To Die And Live Again
Viking Ships Cross The Sea, In Cold Wind, And Rain
Sail Into The Black Of Night Magic Stars Our Guiding Light

Mine is obvius Nightwish-Sleeping Sun would be the first:Simple that the lyric is really beautiful, with great feeling, and looks like my life(shining country)and love the night, and it remainds of my loved one the one my heart is beatting for.

The other is difficult by I will put one here that is one of my favorites:
Therion-Muspelheim:There is a beggining that anyone love to here it.The chorus is amazing, very strong and beautiful. Its an amazing song. Its look like gregorian song but its not, bust still is beautiful.

hahaa hahaa fooled by KaZaA!!!

this song hasn't been performed by either of these bands... it's made by Grave Digger. I also made the same mistake.

Though it sounds like Iced Earth and the lyrics are also suitable... I thought there was Schaffer singing.

Nice texts... and Elendil, the idea of putting the lyrics is great...
Its incredible, how my feelings towards a song can change if I listen to it, reading the lyrics... Maybe the first time I listen to a song, without paying to much attention, I forget it instantly... But reading the lyrics fix the song in my head for a long time.... So , if you can post the lyrics also...

Another song I like very much:

Blind Guardian - (to say something that is not one of the most known BG songs) : The Curse of Feanor ...
The chorus is beutiful... "Don't fear the eyes of the Dark Lord... Morgoth I cried" Its amazing.... And the instrumentation, as well as the whole NiME is great.... I feel it really shows the Guardian trademark Choir style, with voices in many ranges... And Hansi´s emotional voice is beautiful....

Here is the Lyrics:

Taken the long way
Dark realms I went through
I arrived
My vision's so clear
In anger and pain
I left deep wounds behind
But I arrived
Truth might be changed by victory

Beyond the void but deep within me
A swamp of filth exists
A lake it was of crystal beauty
But Arda's spring went by
I've heard the warning
Well curse my name
I'll keep on laughing
No regret
No regret

chorus (1):
Don't fear the eyes of the dark lord
Morgoth I cried
All hope is gone but I swear revenge
Hear my oath
I will take part in your damned fate

I will always remember their cries
Like a shadow which covers the light
I will always remember the time
But it's past
I cannot turn back the time
(I) don't look back
There's still smoke near the shore
But I arrived
Revenge be mine

chorus (2):
I will take part in your damned fate
Morgoth I cried
It's my oath
So don't fear the eyes
Of the dark lord

Soon you will be free
Set your spirit free
"Suddenly I realized
The prophecies
I've never believed in
My deeds were wrong
I've stained the land
And slain my kin
(Burning Soul)
There's no release from my sins
It hurts
THE CURSE OF FËANOR RUNS LONG
Time and only time will tell us
Tell: was I right or wrong?
When anger breaks through
I'll leave mercy behind"

chorus (2)

I will always remember their cries
Like a shadow they'll cover my life
But I'll also remember mine
(And) after all I'm still alive

Manowar-I Bealive

From the darkness i walk into the light,
From the day i walk into the night,
From the shadows i will apear,
With a message to all who will hear!
From that day,i will be strong,
To the defenders of fate i will be long!
For the last of us fight till we die,
for the keys of the kingdom of mine!

Lets all stand together, for the words i hear,
Now the rights have come,to midout all our fear
Say these words forewer, your streinght will newer leave,
If you want to win the fight say:I believe!
